Growing up queer in Kuwait: ‘Even though I’m somehow surviving, others are not’
In this podcast, we talk about Kuwait, a Middle Eastern country with little to no LGBTQ+ rights. Lou*, a Kuwaiti citizen, testifies about the hardships of growing up and being queer in a country that criminalises the LGBTQ+ community.
Our 21bis reporters talked with them** when they were in Mechelen for a week. They tell us about their past, the present situation in Kuwait and how they view their future.
Listen to the story of Lou below.
