Infographics: 68% of those diagnosed with HIV in Belgium in 2019 are men

A week before World AIDS Awareness Day, the federal health institute Sciensano released its 2019 study on aids and HIV infections in Belgium. The study, in collaboration with sexual health organization Sensoa, maps out several facts and figures. It shows a decrease of 25 percent in HIV diagnoses between 2012 and 2019. However, compared to 2018, there’s a slight uptick with 923 new diagnoses. Of those diagnosed, 68% are men, and 78% of new diagnoses are between the ages of 20 and 49.
