18 year old Veronika Sknevska decided to study International Communication and Media in Mechelen, Belgium for three years. Leaving behind her friends and family in Latvia she is discovering a world of independence but that sometimes goes together with loneliness.

Veronika explains that there are some differences between Belgium and her home country. She grew up in a big city, so moving to Mechelen was an adjustment. Studying in a different country has some difficulties such as missing your loved ones back home but she says that she really likes her program and is already making new friends.

Her advice for international students: 

‘Dont be scared of difficulties or differences because it makes you more powerful and will build you as a person’
